Józef Krzysztof Oraczewski is one of the most esteemed present day Polish painters due to both the subjects of his work and his applied painting techniques. He engages in easel painting, large-size painting, drawing and graphic art. Space installations are a separate but simultaneous domain of his artistic production which is in high demand.
His artistic achievements are a natural continuation of his outstanding studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw where he graduated in 1975. His graduation from the academy was additionally recognised by many awards and distinctions, confirming his earlier tracked artistic development. In 1977 he went on to graduate from Professor Józef Szajna's Theatre and Cinema Scenography Study. Oraczewski's achievements include more than 40 individual exhibitions and participation in many collective exhibitions around the world.

The realisation of J. K. Oraczewski's vision and artistic dreams are widely recognised. Looking at his whole artistic production and the scale and form of his activity, combined with his deep involvement in delivering his own considerations and feelings related to great events throughout Europe and the world, he is recognised everywhere as a significant ambassador of Polish fine arts. Examples of this include the "Trojan Horse" space installation in Germany during the fall of the Berlin Wall and "Pompeii's" space installation in Moscow during political change in Russia.
For his achievements and his merit in the field of fine arts he was bestowed the Knight's Cross of the Polonia Restituta Order in 1999.
